Our Vision

Founded in 2023, the Midwest Advocacy and Law Center, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to seeking justice for victims of civil rights abuses, human rights and those most affected by bias and discrimination, including the economically disadvantaged, women, youth, children and Veterans. This firm will advocate to reform education, mental health, the criminal and juvenile justice systems while increasing community economic development opportunities in the disinvested communities.

  • We increase access to justice by providing low-cost and free holistic civil and criminal legal services in Missouri for our low-income and impoverished members of our community. We have VA-Accredited Attorneys assisting our Veterans with obtaining their benefits, addressing legal issues and providing other support.

  • We will collaborate with the Kansas City Public Schools, Workforce Development, Department of Social Services, courts, law firms, law students, business leaders and students to empower our youth leaders (ages 16-19) through civic engagement, entrepreneurship, college or technical/occupational preparation, as well as providing life skills and financial literacy.

  • We will establish a legal and financial entrepreneurship clinic – focusing on underrepresented entrepreneurs, female/minority-owned small businesses, Veterans and returning citizens, primarily in Opportunity Zones. We want to provide small business grants or loans to them after completing our program.

  • We will collaborate with the Veterans Administration and Swope Parkway Health Services to establish Medical-Legal Clinics.

  • We will educate tenants, property owners and community members about the Fair Housing Act.

    We will assist with filing claims, investigation and enforcement for those who have experienced discrimination.

  • We will help to revitalize our communities, churches and neighborhood organizations by using the Abandoned Housing Act for organizations to claim ownership over abandoned and deteriorating property. We plan to advocate and support the paid training of youth and ex-felons on home renovation requesting that they assist our communities.
